REACHING YOUNG PEOPLE IN PLYMOUTH WITH THE HELP OF OUR PARNTERS
Plymouth Aspirations Trust set up the Imagine Fund to support young people in Plymouth, but to reach young people who need the support we rely on referral partners.
In this section we highlight our current referral partners and the role they play in supporting young people who want to access our funding and how future referral partners can get involved.
BECOME A REFERRAL PARTNER.
By becoming a referral partner you are supporting our charity to reach as many young people as possible.
Referral partners will be organisations who:
Work with young people aged between 11-19 years of age
Understand their future ambitions
Understand how financial support can benefit them
Can provide support in the form of an ‘advocate’.
If this sound like your organisation please contact us to find out more.

At Open Kamera CIC, we work with young people and young adults aged 11–19 across Plymouth and surrounding areas, offering creative, community-driven photography workshops that support personal growth, confidence-building, and mental wellbeing. Many of the young people we support face challenges such as social isolation, lack of access to creative opportunities, low confidence, anxiety about the future, and limited safe spaces for self-expression. Some come from backgrounds shaped by displacement, cultural identity struggles, or complex home environments. Others are simply looking for meaningful connection and purpose beyond the pressures of school and social media. Our approach is rooted in socially engaged analogue photography, creating a slower, more mindful space where young people can reconnect -with themselves, with others, and with their creativity. We believe in the process over perfection, and in building trust through collaboration, play, and patience.
Workshops often include elements of phototherapy, journaling, and goal-setting, helping participants feel seen and supported, while giving them practical tools to navigate uncertainty and imagine their futures.
We operate in libraries, community halls, studios, and public spaces across the city, and are in the process of developing a Community Print Shop -a permanent, inclusive space where young people can gather, experiment, and share their stories. At the heart of our work is the belief that creativity should be a shared journey, not a solitary one, and that every young person deserves a space where they feel they belong.
